Chess is a very popular board game played all over the world. It is known to test the wit, cunning and shrewdness of the players. Two players play against one another on a checkerboard surface with characters represented by pieces.
There are total of sixteen pieces per side at the start of every game. A king, a queen, two rooks, a pair of bishops, two knights and eight pawns are available to each player.
Every piece has its own specialty. The pawns are the simplest ones and move forwards one or two spaces only. They can only kill enemy pieces present one space away diagonally. They cannot go back or move forward when an enemy piece is blocking their way.
A rook can move sideways and forwards freely and can capture an enemy piece if it is in its way. However, it cannot skip over other pieces.
A bishop can move diagonally all over the board and as much spaces as you want it to. It also captures opponent pieces in its way. It also cannot leap over other pieces.
A knight is the most unique unit in the game. It has the ability skip over other pieces. It can only move two spaces forward and one sideways in every move.
Queen is the most important weapon a player has. It combines the ability of the rook and bishop and can move diagonally as well as forwards and sideways.
The objective of the game is to protect your own king and capture the enemy’s. The first player to trap the opponent king in such a way that it can make no move to defend itself, in other words to checkmate the king wins you the game.
The king can move one space in all directions.
If the pawn reaches the opponent’s end, it can transform itself into any other unit (except the King). Usually, players prefer to change it into a queen. In this situation, the player may end up with more than one queen.
Chess is an intelligence tester. The player must have a picture in his mind of the position of his pieces and the opponent’s. He must also anticipate the other’s moves and act accordingly. The units must be used to their strengths, pawns be sacrificed when needed to and used as shields at other times.
Chess is also played as a world sport conducted by the FIDE. International and national leagues are also there to test the player’s skills. The current World Chess Champion is the Indian Viswanathan Anand.
Chess can also be played against computers, which is an indication of the computers’ ability to think and their intelligence. A computer designed by IBM named Deep Blue beat the World Chess Champion Gary Kasparov in a chess match, the only computer to have done so.

Say hello to mechanically separated chicken. It’s what all fast-food chicken is made from—things like chicken nuggets and patties. Also, the processed frozen chicken in the stores is made from it.
Basically, the entire chicken is smashed and pressed through a sieve—bones, eyes, guts, and all. it comes out looking like this.
There’s more: because it’s crawling with bacteria, it will be washed with ammonia, soaked in it, actually. Then, because it tastes gross, it will be reflavored artificially. Then, because it is weirdly pink, it will be dyed with artificial color.
But, hey, at least it tastes good, right?
High five, America!
Update: Below follow some of my responses to all the controversy this post has created. Christ, some of you people act as if I told you there wasn’t a Santa Claus.

Consciousness is our personal comprehension of the surroundings we live in and our own internal self. Our inner self is invisible to others. We sometimes show our inner self by our actions. As they say “Actions speak louder than words.” So to judge a person’s inner self it is imperative to look keenly towards his actions and measures. It is also said that one’s inner self really comes out a person gets agitated and angry at some situation. So to judge a person the best time is when he gets angry and reacts. It is also said that it reaction that shows the difference b/w animals and humans. Humans when hit by external stimuli are bound to consider the options and then act according to the situation. The imperative part is of consideration. Animals don’t have such thing in their brain. They react to situations in an instant. They give an instinctive reaction. So that is the difference b/w a human reaction and animal reaction.
For e.g. a donkey is hit towards his back leg, its instinctive and instant reaction would be to react and hit back. A donkey doesn’t carry the mental capacity or ability to consider that what had hit him, why did it hit him and what was the reason he was hit. Neither the donkey would think about the consequences of hitting back. The donkey would react in an instant without thinking about the reactions caused by that action. As Newton famously said in his laws of force “All actions have an equal and opposite reaction.” The donkey is not capable of controlling the urge to react quickly. The donkey’s defense mechanism is well built and strong that it cannot be tamed quickly. The defense mechanism takes over as soon as it feels threatened. The donkey doesn’t enjoy such a sense that it could stop its mind from reacting swiftly and unswervingly.
On the other hand humans have been awarded this special ability to react after due consideration. When a human encounters something, he evaluates and puts up to the challenge. He doesn’t react like the donkey. Taking the same example and putting a human in this situation, a human with a sane brain will react differently. He was evaluating who had hit him, why did it hit him and what was the cause because of which he was hit. He would then respond accordingly, using his brain to consider his options. Humans also have a defense mechanism but it is not as strong as the donkey’s defense mechanism. Humans have the ability to control and tame their defense mechanism to a high extent. So this is the difference b/w the mental capacity of an animal and a human.
